Strong, sustained growth in the Franciscan family is happening in younger Provinces and dioceses in developing parts of the world. At the same time, older, more established Provinces and Congregations are struggling to support their senior and infirm Friars and Sisters. With these parallel developments, requests for Franciscan Foundation funding are increasing.
To keep up with growing needs, we are working to increase the size of the Franciscan Foundation’s assets. While there may be some Provinces and others within the Franciscan family who would like to invest some of their assets in the Foundation as specific designated funds, our service will also be for those with philanthropic interest in advancing the Franciscan movement around the world.
To move this process forward, we will work with other board members and volunteers to set up social events, private meetings with individual prospects, and educational seminars about planned and major giving opportunities.
While avenues for designated giving will continue to be made available, donors will be encouraged to make unrestricted gifts, allowing the board to respond more effectively to changing needs and priorities, as well as emergencies.
